The Mason City High School boys’ basketball staff will provide the instruction and supervision.

Jon Nelson

Jon Nelson in his first year at Mason City posted a 4-17 record but the record was deceiving as the Mohawks lost 8 games by 5 points or less.  His career record stands at 99-62 for a .600 winning percentage.  Prior to coming to Mason City he was Coach of the year in the South Iowa Cedar League in 2003-2004 season and was the Substate Coach of the Year in 2007-2008 season.  He led the BCIG Falcons just their second state tournament appearance during the 2007-2008 campaign.  Nelson has coached in various AAU circuits with his latest stint with Future Stars where he was named Coach of the Year during the summer of 2006.  He is looking forward to a bright future at Mason City where he hopes to return the program back to a high level of competition.  It starts with our youth getting involved in summer camps and improving their skills.  We need the maximum participation in our summer camps and hope you will be a part of the 2010 basketball camp.
